‘Maro Charitra’ to hit the screens on March 26th

Varun Sandesh’s ‘Maro Charitra’ will be hitting the theatres on March 26^th. The audio of the film is planned to release on February 14^th. Ravi Yadav, cinematographer turned director is directing this film and Dil Raju is producing it under the banner Matinee Entertainment Pvt Ltd. Micky J Meyer is scoring the music for the film and editing is by Marthand K. Venkatesh.

Anitha, a new comer is playing the female lead in the film while Shraddha Das is the second heroine. The movie is the remake of Kamal Haasan, Sarika’s sensational hit Maro Charitra which was directed by K.Bala Chandar.

Other cast includes Pratap Pothan, Yami Gautam, Kota Srinivas Rao, Urvashi, Naresh, Thalaivasal Vijay, Sandhya Janak and Aadarsh.

Bollywood can watch some real action in the latter half of 2009 as films like Luck and Blue are getting ready for release. These films will have some daredevil stunts that are sure to keep the viewers on the edge of their seats.

Luck is written and directed by Soham Shah with Imran Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Shruti Haasan, Mithun Chakraborty and Danny Denzongpa in the lead roles.

Bollywood is providing a mix of two separate genres of movies. Incidentally, the two might attract different class of the audience. Anyway, both are trying their luck at the box office while one of them is titled 'Luck'. The other one is 'Perfect Mismatch'. It seems that the television reality shows are entering into the big screen. The specialty of 'Luck' is that it doesn't focus on hero only but moves around several characters. The movie's director Soham Shah of the 'Kaal' fame first decided to cast Shruti, daughter of super star Kamal Hasan. She is starting her career with this movie opposite Imran Khan.

The movie begins with Mafia king pin Kareem Musa played by Sanjay Dutt challenging an eclectic group to perform stunts for his betting trade.

Mithun Chakravarthy playing Retired Major Jawar Pratap Singh needs money for his sick wife.

Acting-wise, Imran Khan performs excellently well. However, he needs to improve his expression. Shruti Hassan has tried her best as newcomer but needs time to mirror her character. She is stunningly charming but lacks in dialogue delivery.

In fact the luck of Luck will decide the luck of many. Director Soham Shah is trying for a comeback after the ill fated 'Kaal'. Hero of the film, Imran Khan is also badly in need of a hit after his 'Kidnap' bombed at the box office. Though his tough guy role in 'Kidnap' was appreciated, he needs to prove his action skills with a solid hit. For Shruti Haasan, daughter of legendary Kamal Haasan, this will be her first full length role in a film.

Luck is produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. Action sequences of the film were choreographed by Allan Amin. Salim-Sulaiman has composed the music for the film.

Love Aaj Kal - Romance Hindi Movie

Is love today different from what it was in the past when lovers like Laila-Majnu or Romeo-Juliet perished in each other’s arms? Today, in the age of online romance and one-night stands, many would say love is just a whirlwind. But no! ‘Love Aaj Kal’ will have you believe that certain things don’t change with the passage of time.

The movie, directed by Imtiaz Ali , stars Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone as lovers in different time periods.

The movie also stars Rishi Kapoor , Neetu Singh and Rahul Khanna in significant roles. There’s also a cameo by a British model named Florence.

‘Love Aaj Kal’ has music by Pritam and lyrics by Irshad Kamil.

The film is set to release on July 31.

Boni Movie Review

Story

DD (Sumanth) and Chinna are orphans and childhood friends. Their aim in life is to set up a ‘Pulihora centre’. DD joins a local goon’s (Jayaprakash Reddy) gang so that he could easily get money for the pulihora center. On his first job, he is assigned to kidnap a girl Pragathi, a minister’s daughter with noble intentions. In fact, Pragathi herself hatches a kidnap plan with her friend to demand 4 Crores from her father to rescue farmer who are losing their land. She thinks that DD has kidnapped her on her friend’s advice. Later she knows the truth but by that time she starts liking him. Then DD’s boss comes to him and orders him to kill her. But he flees with her. The rest of the story is finding the person who hatched the plan to murder Pragathi.

Artists Performance:

Sumanth has done such orphan-rowdy characters in the past and he does role effortlessly. His sidekick is irritating to the most, it is very purely etched role. Newcomer Kriti is okay. Jayaprakash Reddy’s role is in the lines of Paresh Rawal’s in Kshana Kshanam. Comedy track by Satyam Rajesh and Naresh, Bablu and others is mediocre. Chandramohan portrays the ‘surprising role’ with ease.

Technically, it is cinematographer Andrew’s camera and music director Ramana Gogula’s work is appreciable. New director Raj Pippala has tried to present the movie in novel way but he is letdown by his own team of writers. Writing is bad, to say the least.

Boni tries to tread path with action-love backdrop but fails miserably. Boni is not a right debut for the producer and director. The movie is laced with hotchpotch of screenplay, lengthy and unnecessary scenes and predictable humor.

Analysis:

Music director Ramana Gogula has turned producer with Boni and apart from producing it, he also handles the departments of music, picturisation of songs and creative design (whatever that means!). NRI director Raj Pippala has made debut with this film. The director’s basic premise - a guy kidnapping a girl who herself wants to be kidnapped for noble reasons and during the episode, they start falling in love with each other - sounds good on paper. Sadly, the execution, especially the screenplay, is too hotchpotch that the movie finally ends up a cockeyed one. Writing is too bad (both the screenplay and dialogs). Till interval, hardly anything happens. Except cinematography and couple of good songs, this badly executed, badly written movie leaves the audiences in boredom. And it is too lengthy for this sort of a kidnap drama.

Is there any Pulihora center (exclusively Pulihora selling hotel) exists in Andhra Pradesh? Even if it does, how much it costs to set it up? Rs 7Lakhs? Hero joining a mafia leader to get Rs 7 Lakhs to set up a pulihora center is hard to believe.

Final Analysis:

Evarina Epudina Movie Review

Love can happen at anytime and any place. How convincingly was this told in this movie, let us see.

Story
Venkat (Varun) is a happy go lucky guy who is not responsible about anything but then his life takes a turn when he sees Madhumita (Vimala) and falls in love with her at first sight. From then on, he starts hatching plans to win her heart and finally he does.

However, in this process, he does a small mistake which leads to a great confusion and problem and Madhu leaves him without giving any chance to explain.

Whether he manages to win her heart and what changes he undergoes in this process forms the rest of the story.

Performances
Hero: Varun Sandesh:
The confidence of bagging two hits with the starting of career is seen in him. He carried the entire movie on his shoulders and shown enough of energy levels. He needs to work on his body quotient. He may look better with some grooming and adding on some muscle. He has improved his dialogue delivery which was thick in his earlier movies.

Heroine: Vimala Raman:
She is like a sheer poetry. Her beauty is marvelous and enthralling. She looked seductive and sensuous and she has performed to her role. She suits best beside big heroes than lean guys like Varun Sandesh. An inch loss in her body would certainly pinch the hearts of youngsters and teenagers as well. Her smile is also captivating and personality is enchanting.

Others:
Giri Babu was regular, Rama Prabha and Sakuntala were okay, Reshmi looked good, Rahul was alright, Ali was normal, Venu managed few light moments, Anu Haasan did her bit with standard, the others like Surekha Vani, Rahul were brief.

Technical Crew:
The dialogues were okay, the script was a bit random but the screenplay was suitable to it. Music was a let down and barring one or two songs, nothing much can be said. Cinematography was average, editing was neat, costumes and art department did their bit to prove their presence.

Highlight Scenes:
The scene at the TV showroom where Varun’s brother gives him money
Varun’s bold approach to shoulder the entire film
Varun’s way of making children sleep
Disappointment
The rain song was cut down which proved to be a disappointment for many young audiences

Analysis
The film tried to attempt to be a light hearted romantic entertainer but then the comedy track has been quite weak. Even the plot as such is outdated and it was not long before the viewers could predict what was coming next. The entire first half has been devoted to a stale comedy of the grannies at the hospital and it must be said that the flavor was lost due to it. This is a romantic treat but the touch of romance and its feel was not in sufficient doses.

The second half also was a bit mixed with up with inconsequent scenes and forced songs. However, the technical values and the production values of the film are good and this has elevated the film a bit. Due credit goes to the makers for entrusting the hero with the large responsibility of going through the entire movie. There is no special part for the mass audience and the family audience might like it in parts. The pace of the film has been consistent but unwanted songs during the second half hampered the momentum.

Overall, this is a film that is technically neat and good in few points but the agility in keeping the audiences attached to screen is missing especially in second half that marred the final result.

18-20 Love Story

18, 20 Love Story’ is shaping up in earnest starring Shivaji and Shraddha Das in the lead cast. Directed by Radhakrishna, the film has been produced by T. Nageswara Rao and Koppula Ramesh Babu on Shilpa Creations banner.

The story of ’18 20 love story’ is about a good guy who indulges in bad deeds and later changes into a new leaf for his love. Releasing on 27th March.
